Super Laser Arena 9,000,000,000

Convicted of a crime you didn't commit, you have been sentenced to have your brain transplanted into a war-surplus battlebot and be dropped into the nightmare that is the LASER ARENA!  Six trillion sentient beings from every corner of the Empire are cheering you on via hyperwave network.  Your death is certain. How long can you hold it back?

SUPER LASER ARENA 9,000,000,000 is an arcade shooter developed for GBJam 8.

Instructions

Move with WASD, the cursor keys, or the d-pad/left stick of an XBox compatible controller.  

Avoid running into enemies.  Shoot them instead.

Your weapons fire automatically and continuously, normally in the direction you are facing.  Hold SPACE or the A button on your controller to lock them in one direction while you move in another.  

Press left-Ctrl or the B button on your controller to use one of the three smart bombs you are issued with, though be aware that this will halve your current score multiplier.

  Every so often a vanquished enemy will drop a power-up.  Collect these for a few seconds of improved firepower, or some other useful bonus.

  Collect Gems to increase your score multiplier.

  Look out for extra life and smart-bomb tokens every 10,000 points or so.
